Good afternoon, Northwestern Families,
Please review the attached letter for important updates regarding a safe return to school following the weather-related closures.
If Prince George’s County Public Schools announces a 2-hour delay, please note that classes at Northwestern High School will begin at 10:30 a.m., and lunch will follow the adjusted delayed schedule. Students should not arrive on campus before 10:00 a.m. on delayed days.

Dear Wildcat Families and Students,
As we close out Quarter 2 tomorrow, I want to thank our students, staff, and families for their continued partnership and perseverance. Quarter 3 begins Tuesday, January 27, and it marks an important opportunity for students to reset goals, strengthen routines, and continue building academic momentum.
Daily attendance matters. Being present and on time each day directly impacts learning, achievement, and overall success. We appreciate your continued support in ensuring students arrive ready to learn each morning.
Please remember that uniforms are expected daily, and students should arrive with clear bags onlyeveryone’syone’s safety, all students, staff, and visitors must enter through the front doors. At no time should exterior doors be opened or propped open during the school day. Maintaining a safe learning environment is a shared responsibility, and we thank you for your cooperation.
As winter weather continues, families are reminded to monitor the district website and official district social media outlets for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding school closures, delays, or early dismissals due to inclement weather.

Dear Wildcat Families and Students,
As we continue through Quarter 2, we would like to share several important updates and reminders to support student success and maintain a safe, focused, and respectful learning environment at Northwestern High School.
Please note that Quarter 2 will end on January 26. As we approach the end of the marking period, we encourage students to remain engaged in their coursework, complete all assignments, and seek support from teachers as needed. Every instructional day matters.
We have also mandated MCAP state testing for students enrolled in semester-based English 10, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry courses. Student attendance and punctuality during testing windows are essential. We ask for your support in ensuring students arrive on time, well-rested, and prepared on testing days.
We would like to remind families that uniforms are expected daily. Students should wear navy blue pants or skirts with a white collared shirt and clbookbagsbagsbags. Consistent adherence to uniform expectations supports a focused and equitable learning environment for all students.
School safety remains a shared responsibility. We encourage all students to make positive choices throughout the day and to speak up if they see something concerning. If you see something, say something, and do something by reporting concerns to a trusted adult immediately. For safety reasons, all students and staff must enter the building through the front entrance only, and at no time during the school day should doors be opened or propped open for anyone, this includes both students and staff.
Finally, we cannot overstate the importance of daily attendance. Being present, on time, and ready to learn every day plays a critical role in academic success and overall school engagement.

Hello Wildcat Parents and Students,
We’ve officially entered the second quarter of the school year, thank you for your continued partnership in ensuring our Wildcats stay focused, consistent, and engaged every day. Attendance matters! Each class period counts, and every absence impacts learning progress and overall success. Parent-teacher conference day is November 11th.
As a reminder, Northwestern High School is a closed campus. Once students arrive, they are expected to remain on campus throughout the school day and attend all scheduled classes. Students should not leave the building or school grounds without prior approval or proper check-out procedures. This policy helps us maintain a safe and secure environment for everyone.
Additionally, as daylight saving time ends and the days grow shorter, we encourage all students to be mindful of safety when traveling to and from school or activities. With earlier sunsets, visibility decreases in the late afternoon and evening. Please review these important reminders with your student:
